A meteorite found in Maryborough in 2015 will soon be on display in the Melbourne Museum.
Dave Hole was fossicking for gold when he stumbled across a large reddish coloured rock weighing 17 kilograms, and thinkign it must have contained a nugget inside.
After taking the rock to geologists at Melbourne Museum, it was confirmed the rock was in fact a 4.6 billion year old meteorite that had only been on earth for around a thousand years.
If you want to get up close and personal with the rarer than gold find, the meteorite will be on display at the Melbourne Museum from August 11.
